Newspaper Singlecopy Data Collection and Management
VNYX Singlecopy System
The VNYX Single-Copy system was first developed in 1994 for the Tribune Publishing Company. At that time Tribune owned press companies that included subsidiaries in Chicago, Orlando, Newport, and Fort Lauderdale. These publications had a fleet of over 400 drivers with a distribution of over one million papers daily. Tribune had a need to outsource a part of their information system distribution functions. DMS, the predecessor of VNYX, was awarded the project. [Visit the Background section to learn more about the history of DMS and VNYX.] DMS was tasked to design and maintain a software program for Tribune newspapers that would perform sales data processing, reporting, stored sales and return data functions. Single-Copy was created. The primary mission of the DMS Single-Copy program was to interface with other circulation systems and merge the information into ad-hoc reports that were available to the publishers of each product. Users would input data through Citrix, which was the latest computer remote access technology at that time. Reports would be accessed via on-line reports through a secure web site. Over the years the Single-Copy system has been a reliable source for Tribune and continues to manage distribution of newspapers including Orlando Sentinel and Chicago Tribune. VNYX continues to support SIngle-copy and is now upgrading the system for to meet the requirements of today's newspaper industry.
VNYX Single-Copy V 5.0 will feature several new system enhancements. More updates to come. Infolink
